Once was to be made by FOX is now seemingly moving to The CW television studio.
Black Lightning, a superhero television series, was originally to be picked up by FOX, but it now seems that the Greg Berlanti-produced show will move to The CW, a natural fit for Berlanti, having already a few other superhero series, those being Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, be made by the studio.
Berlanti with creative partners, Brock Akil and Salim Akil, originally pitched the show to FOX, but the television company found it to be not the right fit in their current line-up of comic-book shows, those being Gotham and Lucifer with newcomer Legion. So Berlanti and co. will more than likely move to The CW, who is the more likely candidate to pick up the show.
Black Lightning, written by Brock and Salim is based off of the DC Comics character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden; Black Lightning centres on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
Pierce's daughters also grew up to be heroes in their own right, Anissa Pierce, aka Thunder, who is a member of the Outsiders, and Jennifer Pierce, aka Lightning, recruited by the Justice Society of America.
Akil and Salim Akil will executive produce with Berlanti Productions' Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
