Krampus director, Michael Dougherty has been brought on to direct the sequel to the 2014 film, Godzilla, for Legendary Pictures.
Dougherty in partnership with Zach Shields, who co-wrote Krampus, initially came on to write the film, and while at the time, reports were claiming that Dougherty was to direct the deal was meant only for a writing position. But having work on the script for some time now, Legendary gave the helming position to him as well.
The film will be made by Legendary, who have placed Alex Garcia to oversee the project for them.
Legendary brokered a deal with Warner Brothers, in order to make a monster universe that includes Godzilla and King Kong, back in October, 2015. The deal made it that Legendary would develop films that Warner Bros. would then distribute, starting with this March's Kong: Skull Island with other films, like Godzilla vs King Kong, in the future getting the same treatment.
Godzilla: King Of Monsters comes out March 22, 2019 with the Godzilla vs King Kong coming out May 29, 2020.
