For a while now it has been quiet in regards to any sort of news revolving around DC Films' upcoming film, Shazam.
Only up till now, the only really big news was that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was set to star as the films' villain, Black Adam. But now it seems the engines on that machine are firing up as we speak.
Wednesday, Dwayne took to Instagram to tease the future not only this film but other films ahead in the DC Extended Universe. In his post he said the following: "Had a very cool and strategic meeting with the heads of DC about their entire universe. As a hard core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN."
Soon after Johnson posted this, Geoff Johns, co-head of DC Films, went to his Twitter to confirm that he was at that meeting with Johnson. So it looks like Johnson knows what is to come, not only in regards to Shazam but also the DC Extended Universe too.
Earlier on the week, one of Johnson's producing partners, Hiram Garcia, posted on his Twitter that he too went to a meeting to DC. With all of this it looks like the Shazam film will be picking up steam, faster than before, and will more than likely be made.
What is interesting about all of this, is that it seems that Johnson and Co. may well have a bigger role at DC Films. Given that he clearly has been told what the future holds for DC Films, possibly he is going to be brought on as a producer on some projects. But the meeting could very much be a standard and that every director, producer, and other parties get the same treatment when they join up with DC.
