'Wonder Woman' Still Shows Diana Prince Battling In No Man's Land

Next year will see the character of Wonder Woman grace the big-screen in its first live-action film, which will have Gal Gadot play the main role with Patty Jenkins directing the film. Now thanks to Empire we have another look at the warrior princess in action, in what can only be No Man's Land.

"What motivates her is philosophical," Jenkins explaining what's Diana Prince's drive to help people. "She isn't just taking out bad guys or fighting crime. She believes in goodness and love. [She] is fierce and willing to fight, but only to protect a better vision for mankind. Hers is really a coming-of-age story."

"My approach was to focus on telling the story of mechanised war and how that would look to a god visiting our world for the first time," Jenkins said. "[I wanted the audience to understand the horrors that a war on this scale makes possible and how shocking that would be to someone who comes with a strong sense of honour and justice. She doesn't realise yet just how senselessly dark the world can be."

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Patty Jenkins, Allan Heinberg, and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg.

Wonder Woman is slated for release on June 2, 2017.
