Matt Reeves Likely Director For 'The Batman' Film For Warner Bros

Reports have indicated that Matt Reeves has been offered the role of director for Warner Bros. and DC Films' take on the Caped Crusader.

Reeves, known for making an his first impression on Hollywood with the gritty found footage film of Cloverfield and later following up his directing prowess with Let The Right One In and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, has been courted by the studio to headline, as director, the next solo film revolving around the Gotham vigilante.

After the departure of Ben Affleck as director a few weeks ago, the studio with Affleck helping set to find a replacement. Affleck saying in a statement on the departure, "Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film." Affleck is still attach to the film as an actor, producer, and writer with the help of DC Films co-head, Geoff Johns, although some rewrites have begun from Affleck's Argo scribe, Chris Terrio.

As of now production on the solo Batman film was set to begin sometime in May but was pushed back due to the recent Affleck departure, however with finding a director in quick succession could mean that filming might begin by the end of the year.
