Yahya Abdul-Mateen II In Talks For Black Manta In 'Aquaman'

Yahya Abdul-Manteen II, will more than likely join the upcoming James Wan-directed DC film, Aquaman.

Wan, for the past few weeks, has been searching for an actor to play the sea-dwelling villain, and settled with Abdul-Manteen. The deal was sent out Monday, and now parties are in talks.

If the deal goes ahead, we will see Abdul-Manteen suit up as Black Manta. The character, for those who don't know, was once a treasure hunter and mercenary, who was contracted to get Arthur Curry's blood to prove his Atlantean blood. But Thomas Curry, father of Arthur, defended his son leading to his death by heart attack. This lead to Arthur seeking vengeance upon Manta, unfortunately he killed Manta's father, sending Manta down the path of the villain for Arthur.

The film is the next feature from DC Films and Warner Brothers to get cameras rolling, which is expected to begin in April in Australia and then in Italy.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, the half-human half-Atlantean hero, Amber Heard as Mera, an Atlantean heroine in her own right and Arthur's confidant, Willem Dafoe as Atlantean scientist, Vulko, with Patrick Wilson as Orm, a foe of Arthur's. It will be directed by James Wan and will be released October 5th, 2018.
